Who we are

Rooted in Ghana. Singing across America.

Our story

Adinkrahene began with a small group of friends who missed singing together the way they did at home in Ghana. Week by week the group grew, and the sound grew with it.

Today we are a full choir of sopranos, altos, tenors and basses, with instrumentalists who play keyboard, drums and horns. We sing at concerts, church services, weddings, memorials and community celebrations.

Why Adinkrahene

Adinkrahene is the chief of the Adinkra symbols of the Akan people of Ghana. Its three circles stand for greatness, leadership and charisma, and every other symbol is said to grow from it.

We chose the name as a promise: to lead with humility, to sing with excellence, and to keep our circle open to everyone who loves to sing.
